Kathie Woods to Be Inducted into NWAC Hall of Fame on June 4, 2026
Oregon City, OR — Clackamas Community College proudly announces that legendary former head volleyball coach Kathie Woods will be inducted into the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Hall of Fame on June 4, 2026, in Portland, Oregon. The honor recognizes her extraordinary career and lasting impact on community college athletics.
A native of Dallas, Oregon, Woods served as the head volleyball coach at Clackamas Community College from the 1983–84 season through 2014–15, dedicating 32 seasons to building one of the premier programs in the conference. Prior to arriving at Clackamas, she spent two seasons coaching at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany.
Over her remarkable 34-year intercollegiate coaching career, Woods compiled an overall record of 836–522. Her 836 victories are the most by any volleyball coach in NWAC history and rank among the top totals in the history of two-year collegiate volleyball — surpassed by only five other two-year coaches nationally.
Woods led Clackamas to two NWAC Championships (1996 and 2004) and captured seven Southern Region Championships. She was named NWAC Coach of the Year three times, earned NWAC Southern Region Coach of the Year honors multiple times, and was recognized as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Coach of the Year.
Her historic 1996 team — which went undefeated in Southern Region play at 12–0 and finished 50–9 overall while capturing the program’s first NWAC volleyball championship — was inducted into the NWAC Hall of Fame in 2008.
Beyond competitive success, Woods was widely respected for her commitment to academic excellence. Her teams were recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) eight out of her final ten seasons for the prestigious AVCA Team Academic Award, presented to programs that achieve a combined 3.3 team GPA or higher. She also coached seven AVCA All-Americans since the award’s inception in 1996.
Woods’ impact extended well beyond the volleyball court. As a full-time faculty member at Clackamas, NWAC Volleyball Chair, and later NWAC Athletic Commissioner, she played a significant leadership role in shaping conference athletics. Her student-athletes consistently engaged in community service, assisting at college events and organizing annual fundraisers to benefit care for animals with cancer — reflecting Woods’ emphasis on service, leadership, and character development.
In recognition of her lasting influence on the college, Woods was previously inducted into the Clackamas Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.
“Kathie Woods built a culture of excellence that defined Clackamas volleyball for more than three decades,” said Jim Martineau, Clackamas CC Athletic Director. “Her commitment to competitive success, academic achievement, and service to others set the standard not only for our program, but for the entire conference. This Hall of Fame induction is a well-deserved honor that recognizes a truly legendary career.”
